Misconceptions About Chiropractic

August 27, 2019

Even though chiropractic has been around for over 100 years, there are still misconceptions about chiropractic treatment. Clearing up misconceptions will make people feel more comfortable about choosing chiropractic care.

Misconception: Chiropractors can only treat back problems

Yes, chiropractors are known for treating spine and back pain problem, but chiropractors are trained to treat using a holistic approach. We focus on correcting spinal problems, which helps all of the body to operate at its optimal functionality.

Misconception: Chiropractors can perform surgery and prescribe medications

Chiropractors do not prescribe drugs nor do they perform surgery. Chiropractic is based on the idea that the body is able to heal itself and the chiropractor helps the body to realize its innate ability to do so.

Misconception: Chiropractors are not real doctors

Chiropractors are certified doctors, schooled in a specific field of medicine. They must pass national board exams and licensing tests like all certified doctors before they can practice.

Misconception: People who have had back surgery cannot go to a chiropractor

People who have had back surgery, even steel rods in their backs, can still enjoy the benefits of chiropractic care. Chiropractors base treatment plans on each patient’s different needs and situations.
