Sitting for too long

Today, most of us sit at our desks, working on a computer, for many hours every day. Sitting for long periods of time can degenerate your back muscles causing them to become less flexible. Sitting can also reduce the amount of blood circulating and the oxygen going to the muscle cells.

Additionally, sitting for long periods can change the natural curve of your spine. This means your back muscles have to hold your back in shape.

Poor posture

Poor posture is one of the main reasons for lower back pain. Having a bad posture can alter the function of your whole body. Maintaining correct posture is important to avoid serious health problems.

Improper lifting

When you lift heavy objects incorrectly, increased stress is placed on your back and you can easily cause muscle tears, tissue damage, or even small fractures.

Being overweight

If you are overweight, you are at a much greater risk of back pain. Your weight contributes to the risk of injury to the spine and back and puts additional pressure on your spine. Excess weight pulls the pelvis forward, straining the lower back and causing pain.
