Sciatica
One of the most common ailments for which patients seek chiropractic care is sciatica. Sciatica is a broad term referring to any pain in the leg, which can be present for a variety of reasons. Disc bulges, herniations, stenosis, and muscle spasms are some of the more common reasons for pain in the leg, all of which respond very well to chiropractic.
Flexion-distraction is one of the more commonly used techniques to deal with lower back pain and pain in the leg, as it simulates spinal decompression by opening up disc spaces, allowing more room for nerve roots, and stretching lower back musculature to relieve pressure.
Chiropractors also use spinal decompression for cases that don't respond to traditional methods, as well as offer ergonomic advice and at-home therapies that patients can incorporate to alleviate pain outside the office.
