Jonathan Zwerka, DC
Jonathan Zwerka, D.C. attended University of Buffalo and majored in health and human services. He then returned home to Rochester to work with the developmentally disabled population before returning to New York Chiropractic College to receive his doctorate degree. Dr. Zwerka chose to pursue his career as a chiropractor because he wanted to provide health and wellness to the public without the use of invasive drugs or surgery. Many people come into his office for the typical neck and back pain but through constant education his patients learn what other conditions can be helped through chiropractic care. In addition to neck and back pain, other health ailments that can be addressed are disc herniation, arm or leg pain, TMJ, scoliosis, headaches, high blood pressure, structural problems, arthritis, fibromyalgia, athletic injuries, pre/postnatal care, pediatric care, ear infections, ADHD, asthma, and many more. Dr. Zwerka’s care is patient based to specifically fit the needs of each individual person. He utilizes numerous chiropractic and soft tissue techniques to help each patient reach their health goals as quickly as possible. Ideally, our goal is to help each person reach their optimal wellness state through several techniques including functional nutritional assessments. Here in the United States our health as a nation is failing miserably and we have become too dependent on drugs and “sick care.” Our obesity rate is up and our life expectancy is down and this is because as a whole we do not live a wellness lifestyle. Unfortunately, there is no money in the cure or prevention of disease, only in the management of them. This is where Dr. Zwerka sets himself apart. He will teach you how to make yourself healthier and live the wellness lifestyle.

I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2001, where I majored in biology/premedical studies and minored in philosophy. I went on to attend New York Chiropractic College, receiving my doctorate of chiropractic in late 2005. In graduate school I learned many methods of chiropractic manipulation and took particular interest in nutritional healing and soft tissue therapy. Upon graduation, I worked as an associate in a local chiropractic office and worked for nearly four years caring for wide variety of patients, ranging from 6 weeks old to 96 years old. This experience continued to fuel my passion for knowledge of the inner workings of the human body. I frequently use chiropractic manipulation, both manual and tool-assisted, soft tissue massage, stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as nutritional and dietary counseling in varying combinations to suit each patient’s specific needs. I realize that each patient walks into my office with a unique set of circumstances and requires a health care plan designed to suit their individual needs. I use the benefit of my expertise to help every patient attain their own wellness goals. The body is an amazing machine, but like all machines is destined to break down if not properly maintained. It is my hope to help as many people as possible, men and women, children to seniors, accountants to zoo keepers, to enjoy a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.

I received my Bachelor’s degree from SUNY- Albany and doctorate from New Your Chiropractic College. My desire to become a Chiropractor came after finding relief from chronic sinus infections during my college years. I was plagued with constant sinus headaches with no relief from any conventional care. After several rounds of antibiotics, multiple specialists, expensive tests, and a referral for surgical exploration, I took matters into my own hands. Always having an affinity for alternative methods, my research led to chiropractic care. A description of how cervical manipulation can affect neck pain, headaches an sinuses with little to no side effects was all that was needed for that first phone call to the chiropractor. After just a few visits, I was headache and antibiotic free! Feeling the benefits of chiropractic first hand, I knew it was my calling to help others in the same way. Healing with your own hands is the most rewarding part of this profession.
I am dedicated to getting my patients better with the use of new technology, dietary information, fundamental exercise routines and staying informed to help keep you healthy. I have an extensive background in rehabilitation therapy, nutritional counseling, Graston Technique, Spinal Decompression Therapy and many more.
I look forward to knowing a healthy, happier you!
I grew up in Hilton, NY, and was a 2003 graduate of Hilton Central High School where I participated in the Hilton Cadets Baseball program and was an Academic All-American. In 2003, I attended Genesee Community College and received honors on the Dean’s List for outstanding achievement as a scholar athlete. I then enrolled in the pre chiropractic program at MCC and transferred to SUNY Brockport and enrolled in the exercise physiology program where I was nominated for Student of the Year, and eventually earned a B.S. in exercise physiology. While attending SUNY Brockport, I took up power lifting and earned a National certification in Personal Training which I still maintain today. Upon graduation, I attended New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, and earned a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree.
I have since completed additional coursework in a variety of different therapy methods and am a certified kinesio tape provider, as well as a Metagenics nutraceuticals provider. I believe very strongly that helping people to make better healthy lifestyle choices is the most influential and positive way I can help to improve a patient’s quality of life.
I also believe in the proper use of evidence based clinically sound chiropractic care as a means to improve patient outcomes and help see to it that the community stays injury free and healthy as can be! I wish to share these benefits and service this community for many years to come.
Dr. Kosmicki has left the practice to take a position in South Carolina.
